Tommy and Lisa Houston have owned and operated their family business Checkered Pig BBQ & Ribs for over 20 years in Martinsville, VA. They now have a second location in Danville, VA as well. They started on the competition circuit in 2000, competing mostly in KCBS sanctioned events and won over 250 awards for their ribs, chicken, pork and Brisket, as well as their sauce. Checkered Pig was also featured on Food Network for winning the Best in the West Rib Cook Off in 2004, putting their ribs on the map. They have traveled across country to the Best in the West Cook Off for over 15 years to bring award-winning ribs and southern hospitality.
